Jim Zocci
February 10, 2009

James H. (Jim) Zocchi passed away on February 10, 2009 at his home in Clearfield, UT.  He was married to his bride, Norma, for 45 years.  Together they raised three sons.

Jim served 23 years in the Air Force, as a master high-speed-aerial photographer.  His photos of the Apollo Space Program were featured on the cover of Life Magazine.

Jim served 39 years with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, promoting boating safety.  During that time he was very active as an RBS Program Visitor, Vessel Examiner and Instructor.  As an Instructor, he was involved in teaching the youth PWC classes for the state of Utah for the past 11 years.  In 2008, Jim received the Auxiliary RBS Award for his participation in these programs.  Jim was also named the Utah Auxiliarists of the Year for 2008.  He loved people, and was a great spokesman for the RBS programs.  Jim could persuade folks to get a VSE better than anyone.  No task was too small for Jim to take on, if it would assist the Auxiliary and its missions.  He was always there to lend a hand and to pick up the slack.

He also loved gardening, camping and ice cream.

Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark
And may there be no sadness of farewell
When I embark.
For though from out our bourne of Time and Place,
The flood may bear me far;
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have cross the bar.
